5 Reasons your website should have a blog

5 Reasons your website should have a blog

In this day an age if you want to have a website that will be visited and read, you need to add valuable content to it. If you don’t chances are you will fall to the bottom of the search results.

Here are 5 reasons your website should have a blog:

  1. You will get more traffic into your website.

Most searches online are made to find information, not to buy a product or service, therefore your website should provide answers to the questions people are asking for. The more content you create the more keywords and pages you generate on your particular niche for search engines pick on, therefore giving your website a higher value in the eyes of the search engines that are crawling your content. Search engines like fresh content and if every time they crawl they find that you have updated and added pages to it google will assign you a page rank (PR) that goes from 1 to 10.

The higher your PR the better position they will assign you, making it easier for customers to find your website without having to pay for the visitor’s click.Let say say your company sells cell phones. You could write a blog with short 500 to 800 word articles about new phone releases, comparisons between phones, news about the industry, so on and so forth. These articles will eventually be found and read by many people that will be exposed to your logo, your website and your products, making it easier to sell to.
  2. why blogIt will help you stay on people’s minds.
When you have fresh content you have an excuse to communicate with your database of prospects, subscribers on customers and remind them that you exist. With time, if you do it consistently enough you’ll be the only person they’ll be able to think about when they think about your niche’s product or service. After writing a Blog post you should also send an email to all your database letting them know you added this post to your site saying it might be interesting for them to read it. Copy the first paragraph followed by a “read me more” button linking it to your site on the email. You should also share the article on all your social media pages for people to read and share. If you think it’s a really good post, then do a “Boost Post” on Facebook to reach all your “friends”. You never know how far a good article can go, giving you visibility you never expected. For example I personally know a phycologist that occasionally writes in her own blog. One day she wrote an article titled “Hello, my name is Dr. Her Name and I’m a heterosexual” discussing on how unnecessary it is to use our gender preference as a way to define who we really are. She shared her article on her facebook feed and spend $5 in giving the article a “Boost Post”. In less than 48 hours her article got read over 4,000 time and on Monday made her several new customers.
  3. It will give you credibility.
They say that if its written then it must be true. We all know that’s not really true, but perception is everything in marketing. If you write, or appear to write on a subject that you do for a living, it will make you look in the eyes of your readers as an expert and these potential customer will prefer you over the person they’ve never heard anything about. Expert credibility might get you interviews, speaking engagements and many other unforeseen opportunities that you never expected and might catapult your business to places you never imagined.I have a friend who’s a realtor and he consistently writes articles on new trends, new real estate developments, the new project he’s working on, the features of a new construction, etc. The way he’s benefiting from it is that any and every time someone mentions they need a realtor or are considering a real estate investment the person that first pops into my head is my friend, the one that almost every day reminds me that Real Estate is his profession and he knows everything that’s happening in the city, so I always recommend him.
  4. It will expand your professional knowledge and vision.
When you have to write or think of topics to write about you will be forced to look out and see what’s happening in your industry. When you do your research you’ll learn about your competition, new trends, you’ll find about people’s real interests and all that knowledge will help you become a better professional and marketer.By doing my research on topics, I first do searches on what people are searching for. I use Google’s Keyword Research Tool for this and it tells me how many searches there are in a particular month per set of keywords. This inside makes me realize what really matters to most and helps me offer benefits and solutions to cater an existing need.
  5. It will save you marketing dollars.
I think everyone will agree that free leads are better than paid leads. A consistent, content rich blog that has well researched keywords has the potential to generate massive traffic into your website, turning it into an exponential growth for your business.
When you compare the cost of creating a good looking website and populating it with content versus any other form of advertising you’ll realize it’s a no brainer.
You can write the content yourself or  find qualified copywriters that will do it for you saving you lots of time.
